Action for Children~Zambia (AFCZ) has leadership and volunteers in several countries and a dedicated staff in Zambia.

In Zambia, the program is run by founder and director Carol McBrady, who coordinates not only the activities within Zambia but the operations of the supporting organizations in other countries. All other staff involved with AFCZ in Zambia are native Zambians, most with extensive past experience working with at-risk, vulnerable and displaced children and young adults. In addition, several local Zambian colleges partnered with AFCZ, and we regularly welcome student interns practicing their social work skills. This community-based staff helps the children keep their connection with Zambian culture and society while providing western social work practices that are particularly helpful to street children, such as counselling, foster care and behavior modification.

In the U.S.A., AFCZ is run by a network of volunteers including a board of directors that works with Carol to coordinate fundraising, public awareness, compliance with charitable giving regulations and support for the organization. Throughout the other countries providing support for AFCZ, a team of volunteers manages fundraisers and public awareness events.

Staff Training and Team Building

We are truly grateful for the wonderful team we have in Zambia. During a 4-day training session, Mama Carol McBrady facilitated discussions and teaching around the topic of child protection. We brought in our counselors from the Abundance of Hope clinic and they taught us about childhood trauma and the effects that has on our children. We spent a full day on behavior management and also discussed personnel and human resource issues. We learned many great things!
